Without Saying A Word

You look in the mirror.
Who do you see?

The quizzical face
says what you can’t.

You don’t know.

Should I tell you?
Or would that be unkind?

I start, then think it better
to simply unknow myself
into the mirror with you.

Then we both
can show each other
who’s there
without saying
a word.
